What is a urology holmium laser?
The “gold standard” of urinary lithotripsy.
The holmium laser is a pulsed laser with a wavelength of 2100 nm; the energy can be transmitted through flexible optical fibers. At the absorption peak of water, the laser energy is efficiently absorbed by the water in the stone and tissue. Through the micro explosion of water on the stone and the vaporization of soft tissue, the dual functions of gravel and cutting are realized.
Because the penetration depth of holmium laser in the tissue is less than 0.4mm, it can cut accurately without damaging the surrounding tissue. Holmium laser is widely used in urology and can be used in dermatology, gynecology and obstetrics, Gastroenterology, general surgery, facial features and other fields.
Holmium laser can be conducted through optical fiber, so it can cooperate with various endoscopes to carry out minimally invasive surgery. It has the characteristics of small damage to surrounding normal tissues, fast postoperative recovery and good hemostatic effect. It is favored by clinical experts and has become the "gold standard" of urinary lithotripsy.
